About Us

Modern Mead, Crafted in the Granite Belt

At Mount Stirling Meadery, we create premium Australian mead from the bees up. Every bottle begins with honey from our own hives in the Granite Belt, Queensland—a region celebrated for its cool-climate wines, pristine air, and diverse native flora. By combining this unique environment with pure rainwater and careful fermentation, we produce meads that are crisp, contemporary, and unmistakably Granite Belt.

Our Region: The Granite Belt

Perched more than 1,000 metres above sea level, the Granite Belt is one of Australia’s highest and most distinctive wine regions. While known for vineyards and apple orchards, it is also home to rare wildflowers and native blossoms—the source of the complex honeys that make our mead so special. The cool-climate conditions slow fermentation, giving our meads balance, depth, and a refreshing modern character.

Our Water: Pure Rain from the High Country

We believe exceptional mead starts with water as pure as the honey it’s made from. At our Stanthorpe meadery, we capture fresh rainwater from the roofs of our cellar door and workshop. It is then triple-filtered and UV-sterilised, ensuring every glass of Mount Stirling mead is clean, bright, and free of impurities—letting the natural flavours of the Granite Belt shine through.

Our Passion: Authentic Australian Mead

Our mission is simple: to put modern mead on the map in Australia. With roots in beekeeping and a deep respect for the land, we craft each mead with authenticity, patience, and a sense of place.

Whether you’re visiting our Granite Belt cellar door or shopping online, we invite you to taste a drink that connects you to the bees, the blossoms, and the high country where it all begins.
